Sassy Sauces from a Sassy Mama....

Updated: Aug 8, 2020

In our current uncertain times it is a bold move to open up a traditional brick and mortar store but not nearly as bold as the array of sauces, glazes, spices and all things barbecue that Sassy Mama Cuisine offers. I stopped into the brand new storefront on opening weekend located on 132 Mendon Road (Unit 1) in Cumberland (next to Paul’s Liquors). As a large part of two small businesses in town, I could immediately appreciate the amount of work that had gone in to the setup of the new location. It's clean, it's fresh and there are great product displays and info everywhere. Best of all, if you have any questions, the Sassy Mama herself will be happy to answer them, recommend a product or just chat about her new venture.

Established in 2010 Sassy Mama Cuisine, owned and operated by Deborah Sousa, has all of her products available online as well as in the new store. After a long stint in the Ann and Hope Flea Market location on weekends, The Sassy Mama decided it was time to make a move once it was determined the Flea Market and Ann and Hope as a whole announced their closing as a result of the pandemic.

The Sassy Mama specializes in the culinary delectable's from oils, sauces, dips, jerky, BBQ Supplies and much more. You can stop in and pick up individual sauces or go for a beautiful gift basket with everything you will need-and don't forget about the wall of hot sauces, some hot-some not as the Mama says.

Of course after purchasing the recommended products from the Mama herself, we couldn't wait long to try them. I fired up the grill after marinating some chicken in her smoky maple glaze sauce and enjoyed a feast with the family the next day. Needless to say the chicken was the star as a result of this incredible glaze. We can’t wait to try some more of her products. Check out the new storefront and follow the facebook page @sassymamari for product info and recipes. You can also visit the website at or call (401) 524-6291. Give the Sassy Mama a try, you won't regret it.
